The Z-Morh Tunnel, a two-lane bi-directional road connecting Gagangir and Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, has been constructed at a cost exceeding ₹2,700 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the strategic Z-Morh Tunnel in Ganderbal’s Sonamarg area on Monday, January 13, 2025. While he refrained from committing to a timeline for restoring Statehood to Jammu & Kashmir, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformative impact of the new road and railway networks in the Union Territory. He remarked that these developments have significantly reduced “Dili ki Doori” (the distance between J&K and Delhi), fostering stronger connectivity and integration.
