Report: Hyundai and TVS Motor in Talks to Develop Electric Three-Wheeler

Hyundai, known for its Creta EV and other electric models, is gearing up to showcase its last-mile mobility concepts at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

Hyundai India is reportedly in discussions with TVS Motor to co-develop a new electric three-wheeler, as per Autocar Professional. Under the proposed collaboration, TVS is expected to manage manufacturing, while Hyundai will focus on design and engineering. This partnership would signify Hyundai’s entry into India’s expanding last-mile mobility market, aligning with its commitment to zero-emission vehicles.

Sources close to the development have revealed to Autocar Professional that the potential Hyundai-TVS partnership may involve TVS manufacturing the electric three-wheeler locally under a contract manufacturing agreement. Additionally, Hyundai’s micro-mobility vehicle architecture could be shared with TVS, similar to how TVS accesses BMW’s architecture through its collaboration with the German automaker.

Neither Hyundai nor TVS have responded to requests for clarification, and Samvad Mantra has not independently verified the report.
